Welcome to the Scriptorium!

Mark Weaver is an author and illustrator of the Make Things Up And Write Them Down approach to literature. He is a “get it all into the first draft and sort it out in the second so that it makes sense” type of writer. He is not so much a plotter or pantser (other writers will know what this means and nod knowingly) but a driving at night and see as far as the headlights will reach sort of guy. With a vague idea of the destination you can go a long way like this.

Not tied to a particular genre, Mark writes whatever interests him at the time and hopes that enthusiasm rubs off on the reader. He has written historical, comedy, science fiction, fantasy and literary novels (one time all in the same book).

In his spare time he is the instigator-in-chief of the scribes of the priory of St. Elno who used to lurk about on Twit (formerly Ex) but are now on Bluesky.

When not tending to the Scriptorium’s wildflower meadow (formerly the front lawn), he usually has several things on the go at once. With The Scriptorium Chronicle now published, and about halfway through The Scriptorium Cookbook, he is also working on a comedy set in a Northern mill town, where a Victorian-themed festival, a steampunk convention and a rock music concert collide.

In case you are wondering what the deal is with the Scriptorium, it is many things to many people. To Mark, the Scriptorium is wherever he happens to be writing at the time. There is usually a cat curled up somewhere nearby.
